Want some tips on playing the Colorado Lottery?
We love sharing advice for playing the lottery.
Do you have any tips of your own? Let us know!
TIP #1: TALK TO LOTTERY RETAILERS
If buying scratch-off tickets, ask the cashier about any big winners for the scratch-offs lately. If yes, steer clear of those games. Most scratch-off rolls will have at least one big winner and if someone else just claimed the prize, it’s not likely to hit big again.
TIP #2: EQUAL CHANCES OF HITTING
Every ball in a draw style game has an equal chance of being chosen. There is no software that can predict the exact winning numbers. You can increase your chance of not splitting a jackpot if you select numbers that are not as commonly picked.
TIP #3: ONLY BUY TICKETS FROM LICENSED RETAILERS
Only buy lottery tickets from authorized lottery retailers. If you are approached by someone offering a “winning ticket” for cash or asking you to cash it for them for a fee, refuse the offer. Not only could it be a scam but it could land you in legal trouble.
TIP #4: PLAN AHEAD
Lottery winners in Colorado are not able to remain anonymous. Your name and the first initial of your last name will be posted to the Colorado Lottery website. However, lottery winners may be able to claim their winnings using a trust or LLC. Plan ahead and talk to a qualified attorney before making an major claims.
