You see a scratch game with no top prizes remaining…
and immediately think:
“Yeah… I’ll pass.”
We’ve all done it.
No jackpot = not worth it.
Simple.
But here’s the thing.
The top prize is already a long shot.
Always has been.
So removing it doesn’t change as much as people think.
What actually matters?
Everything underneath it.
Second tier prizes.
Third tier prizes.
The ones that hit more often…
and still pay real money.
Sometimes those prizes are still fully loaded.
Sometimes the odds on them have even improved.
And suddenly…
that “busted” game doesn’t look so bad.
That’s the part most players miss.
They judge a game by the headline.
But the value is often buried a few lines down.
This doesn’t mean you should ignore top prizes.
It just means they’re not the whole story.
There’s a lot more going on inside a game than just the biggest number on the ticket.
Next week, we’ll tackle one more myth:
“Remaining prizes are always accurate.”
That one’s a little more nuanced.
Play smart.
Have fun.
And never risk more than you can afford.
