Strategy
What Michigan scratch off prizes are remaining?
The top remaining scratch off prizes, ranked from largest to smallest top prize, are as follows. For a complete list of remaining prizes for all games, visit our Michigan Lottery Remaining Prizes page.
What does Overall Odds mean?
Overall Odds are the chance of winning any prize from a scratch-off ticket, including those that are equal to just the purchase price or a free ticket. Posted odds of 1 in 3.5 do not mean a win is assured with four tickets bought. Instead, these odds reflect the average over the entire game’s tickets.
What is the "BEST" scratch off to buy?
Players ask this question often and are usually referring to which game has the best Overall Odds of winning. That is because they don’t realize prize level data is available. The “BEST” game to play is going to vary player to player. Each player has a different prize amount they would be thrilled to win as well as a budget they can spend. Smart players will target the smallest amount that will make a meaningful impact as the odds will be much better than always swinging for a grand prize.
Which scratch game wins the most?
Players differ on what they mean when they ask which scratch off wins the most. Let’s breakdown some common meanings:
Overall Odds – Tickets with the best overall odds tend to yield more frequent wins. However, these wins often consist of smaller, breakeven prizes. Players may experience more frequent hits but usually just recover the ticket purchase price.
Prize Payout – A higher Prize Payout means that a greater percentage of ticket sales is returned to players as prizes. Typically, more expensive tickets offer larger prize payouts compared to cheaper ones.
Claims
How long do I have to claim a instant prize? / Do instant prizes expire?
In Michigan, instant game prizes must be claimed within 365 days of the announced end of the game date. A specific game’s end date can be found on the MI Lottery’s website.
How do I claim my winnings?
Prizes up to $600 – Prizes up to and including $600 may be claimed by mail or at a MI lottery retailer. However, retailers aren’t required to pay out prizes, but the vast majority do as a service to players. Some retailers also may limit the size of the prize that they will redeem.
Prizes of $601 to $99,999.99 – Prizes under $100,000 may be claimed at a Michigan Lottery regional office, by mail, or a designated claim center by appointment only.
Prizes of $100,000 or more – Congrats! These prizes must be claimed at Michigan Lottery headquarters, located at 101 E. Hillsdale in downtown Lansing. Players need to call ahead to schedule an appointment.
Tickets
What new instant games are there from the Michigan Lottery?
Instant games that have released in the last 30 days are highlighted with a “NEW GAME!” tag.
PRO TIP – Some scratch players feel new scratch off games will intentionally pay out more prizes than older games. The reality is, new game releases tend to sell more tickets than older games because they are the new and interesting. This higher volume of ticket sales will naturally result in more winners until ticket sales level out.
Which lottery game has the best odds?
We always respond to this question with another – “Best odds to win what?”
The best odds to win depend greatly on your specific objectives. Are you aiming to win enough to pay some bills, or are you hoping to land a massive retirement nest egg? Each lottery game, whether it’s a scratch-off or draw game, has different prize level odds, making some games more favorable for hitting certain prizes than others.
We understand that every player has unique goals and ways they like to play. That’s why we provide over 20 detailed instant game rankings, along with price filters to help you identify which game has the best odds for your goals. Additionally, we provide drawing game odds for all your favorite Michigan Lottery games.
How many tickets are on a roll of instant games?
The quantity of tickets in a roll of scratch-offs depends on the specific game and the ticket price. Generally, a roll can contain between 20 and 300 tickets, with the total cost ranging from $300 to $600.
For the most accurate details, consult your local MI Lottery retailer.
