How long do I have to collect a prize?
In Virginia, scratcher prizes can be claimed up to 180 days after the end of the game. Draw game prizes can be claimed up to 180 after the drawing that the ticket was purchased for. Print n Play tickets also expire 180 days from the draw date.
How can I claim a winning lottery ticket?
Prize claims under $600 can be claimed at a VA lottery retailer, regional claim center, Lottery Headquarters or by mail.
Prizes above $600 can be claimed at a Virginia Lottery customer service center. For a current list of Claim Center locations, hours and claim forms, visit the VALottery Claims Page.
Online prizes of $100 and less will be credited to your account automatically. Prizes greater than $100 must have an online claim form filed in order to claim your prize.
Can winners remain anonymous?
Sometimes. In Virginia, prizes greater than $10 million can be claimed anonymously if the winner wishes. The amount of the prize and the store where the ticket was bought will still be made public, but the winner’s information won’t be released by the lottery.
For prizes of $10 million and less, all prize winners are public record. That means when you win, it’s not a secret! Your name, city, prize amount, date of win and where you bought the ticket are all public record.
